Week 12 | 91 words

My Periphery

There it was again, in my peripheral vision; a tiny castle floating on a rainbow cloud in the middle of my messy bedroom. Outside my window a number of men in hard-hats were digging up the road, so all I could hear was drilling, and all I could smell was cooked asphalt. The pang of loss that the usual soundtrack of violins and the familiar scent of apples had been so raucously replaced made me realise that it was a clearer and firmer version of this vision that I ached for.
